Parish Episcopal School Quiz Bowl Finishes Winning Season

Parish Quiz Bowl team bests Dallas-area school at Nationals.

For the third consecutive year, the Parish Episcopal School Quiz Bowl team placed in the top ten among schools competing in the National Alliance Quiz Tournaments (NAQT). The small team made up of Sohum Kulkarni ‘20, Shivani Kulkarni ‘20, Duncan Antich ‘19 and Adam Klein ‘19 grabbed 2nd place in the Open Division at the National Championship Tournament on May 3 and 4, in Illinois. Parish Quiz Bowl faced 72 teams from 27 states (made up of mostly private and charter schools) and one team from Singapore. The team beat six other Dallas-area schools in the tournament. Parish also enjoyed undefeated tournaments and impressive showings throughout the year - 1st Place at Greenhill, 1st Place at Parish, 2nd Place at St. Mark’s, and 5th Place at State, the highest place of any team in the DFW area. Sohum Kulkarni, Klein and Antich received invitations to participate in the Individual National Championship. Klein and Antich, the only seniors, were invited to participate this summer as part of the Texas All-Star team.

“I am proud of this team’s poise and commitment,” said Patrick Lipscomb, Upper School Social Studies and Quiz Bowl Coach. “They are truly a remarkable team.”

May 25-26, Parish will travel to Atlanta to compete for the High School National Championship Tournament (HSNCT), the national championship for all schools regardless of size or public/private status. Congratulations Parish Quiz Bowl!
