Rishul Rai, Class of 2022, has been named a regional winner in the Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision competition. The ExploraVision’s 23rd annual challenge asked young people to create a vision of a new technology, and Rishul's team was selected as one of the 24 regional winning projects. Rishul and another member of his Dehydra DH team submitted a science project to ExploraVision titled "Don't Sweat Over Dehydration."
Thousands of team entries were submitted from across the United States and Canada, and 24 Regional Winners are selected as finalists for the national competition, one winner in every grade level in each of six regions.
The Toshiba corporation runs ExploraVision and recently sent a representative to Parish to present Rishul with the award during chapel. Rishul was excited to have Toshiba on campus and said that ExploraVision is a fun and engaging program that can inspire a lifelong love of science, technology and innovation for students and teachers alike.
"My parents love science and encourage me to learn all I can," said Rishul. "Working on this project is fun and I am learning a lot about sweat and the human body!"
As a regional winner, Rishul earned the following awards for Parish:
• a Toshiba laptop computer
• a team plaque
• an ExploraVision Regional Winner banner
• a framed award certificate for each team member, coach, and mentor
• a Toshiba 8GB Excite tablet for each team member, coach, and mentor
Rishul is now working toward the national competition, where he will have to create a website and prototype of his technology for a chance to win a savings bond and an invitation to attend the Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision Awards Ceremony Weekend in Washington, DC June 3-6, 2015.
