Promoting participation in all aspects of Parish life. Hover over the images below to learn more.

"Using my talent to share." The cast of the MS Musical, Junie B. Jones, visited the Hillcrest Campus library to read in character with our 1st and 2nd graders.

Affinity Groups provide opportunities for students to connect with others who share aspects of their identity, especially in situations in which aspects of their identity are in the minority or are marginalized. It creates a space where students can gather to share their experiences, wrestle with questions of self-image, and strategize solutions to common problems.

Legacy Family Events. 1st - 12th grades meet three times a year in small groups to get to know more about themselves and each other. These "families" are made up of 3-4 students from each division.

Daily Chapel. Students at both the Hillcrest and Midway Campuses attend daily chapel.

By learning how to handle bad days. Our LS social-emotional counselor, Elaine Charles, read the book The Crazy Hair Day by Barney Saltzberg. In the book, Stanley walks into his worst day ever. In the end, his classmates use friendship and kindness to turn Stanley's day around. The idea for the students was to focus on kindness and to be aware of how our actions (and reactions) impact others.

Experiential learning. Our MS students head to Catalina Island in 7th grade and to Washington D.C. in 8th grade. Plus, there are many opportunities through our ParishAbroad program. Students have a great opportunity to learn through an immersive travel experience.

Through service. Our 7th grade students volunteer in the gardens at one of our DISD partner schools Anne Frank Elementary School. The 6th grade classes visit Cigarroa Elementary as reading buddies and 8th graders visit friends at a local retirement home. Find out more.

Sharing with younger friends. MS band members travel to our Hillcrest Campus to perform for and share their love of music with LS students.

By telling "my story". Student moderators led a discussion of Upper School faculty members telling their story as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.

On our first day at school at Parish.

On our last day of school at Parish.

Many churches in the United States celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi in October. Both our Hillcrest and Midway Campuses have "Blessing of the Animals" events where our chaplains and faculty/staff bless animals in person or via a photo that students and their families bring.

As a Parish community. The school year provides many opportunities to gather together on campus and off. At Gloria H. Snyder stadium, our varsity games include families from all divisions, athletes, artists and above all, Panthers.

By teaching our friends. At the 3rd and 4th grade Designapalooza, 1st and 2nd graders travel to the Midway Campus to see STEM projects in action.

By learning from our friends in the community.
