Leadership

ParishAbroad in India

In collaboration with the World Leadership School and No Barriers Youth, Parish Middle and Upper School students have the opportunity to participate in programs that focus on leadership and global issues.

ParishAbroad is a mission-aligned program that seeks to raise the global competency of Parish students through purposeful and meaningful travel. ParishAbroad aims to create bold leaders prepared to impact a complex global society.

ParishAbroad afforded a lifetime experience that has left an indelible impression on Landon's memory bank. His exposure to hiking, Alaska sea life, canoeing and the ability to see a once endangered species has created an outdoor education that goes along with Reimagine. Imagine being educated amongst the beautiful ice-capped mountains of Alaska on the importance of climate change and how it truly affects our world and really understanding the importance of how our footprint forms the future world we will occupy.– Charlie Scott, Middle School Parent

Morocco

Global Leadership Program - Morocco (Summer 2019)

The Kingdom of Morocco is located at the crossroads between Europe and Africa in Northwest Africa. Morocco, also known by its ancient name A-Maghreb, meaning “the West” in Arabic, contains a mix of indigenous Berber, Arab, African and European influences. Students will fly into Casablanca and will quickly immerse into the complex Moroccan culture. The group will then take a train to the bustling ancient city of Marrakech where students will stay in a family run riad (a traditional Moroccan house). They will explore Marrakech before settling into our host community of Asni, a small mountain town in the Atlas Mountains. Students will stay with local Asni families and will gain exposure to Berber culture and history. During the day students will work with local leaders, the school community and a local woman’s cooperative. The journey will end with an excursion to Essaouria before heading home.

WHO

Spend the night learning about sea mammal rehabilitation efforts working alongside scientists and researchers at the Alaska SeaLife Center. Costa Rica

Middle School Cultural Immersion Program - Costa Rica (Summer 2019)

ABOUT
In partnership with the World Leadership School, students will spend eight days in Costa Rica. We arrive in San Jose and then transfer to the community of Santa Maria de Dota, which lies in the cool mountain highlands. This peaceful community is a simple town that consists of a plaza, church and school. Santa Maria de Dota is home to a large carbon-neutral coffee cooperative, which employs many of the locals and is the primary economic activity in the area.  During our visit, we will work with local leaders on a community project, engage in cultural activities, play local sports and practice Spanish language skills. At the end of the program, the group will travel to Dominical, on the Pacific Coast, where we will explore the rainforest and enjoy surf lessons before returning home to Dallas.
