Upper School Travel Opportunity 2020: Venice, Florence & Rome (Spring Break 2020)
Students will spend 10 days traveling throughout Italy. The first stop is Venice, the city of canals. The group will navigate the waterways while they visit famous sites including St. Mark's Square and Doge's Palace. Students will learn the art of Venetian glassblowing during a demonstration by a master practitioner. After a quick day trip to Padua, the group will continue on the Florence and will arrive in time for a night time stroll through the bustling gold shops of the iconic Ponte Vecchio. While in Florence the group will dine with locals and experience the art of Michelangelo as they take in the many sights and sounds of this ancient city. Before the group departs for Rome, students will partake in a Tuscan cooking lesson as they help one of the city's finest chefs prepare a traditional Tuscan feast. The third and final stop of the tour is Rome where a tour of a gelato factory offers a sweet welcome to the capital city. Bring your walking shoes because the group will visit several noteworthy sites of The Eternal City including the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica and the Colosseum. There is an optional day trip to Pompeii, a 2,000 year old city preserved in volcanic ash.
With timed reservations to several popular tourist attractions and experienced tour guides, students will be able to skip long lines and spend more time experiencing the wonders of each Italian city.
This opportunity is open to all students who have a curiosity for travel and adventure. The faculty leaders are Mr. Rick Dunn, Ms. Beka Johnson and Dr. Jania Hoover all of whom are experienced teachers who have led student groups throughout Europe. Our travel partner is ACIS Travel.

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. – Mark Twain, The Innocents Abroad
