8th grade Moving Up Ceremony:

Thursday, May 28 at 8:30 a.m., at the Church of the Transfiguration on the Hillcrest Campus.  Please click here for more information.

VOE’s (Verifications of Enrollment needed for driver’s ed):

Will be mailed home to all 8th graders with report cards the week of June 2.  These forms are good all summer.

8th grade parents – Many of you are already thinking about textbook ordering for the fall.

You may be working with Kyle Wells (kylewells2003@yahoo.com) for textbook swapping, but the school does not provide a formal venue for buying books from other students.  The school’s official textbook provider is MBS Direct (accessible through our US page of the Parish website at http://bookstore.mbsdirect.net/parishepiscopal.htm) but the bookstore does not go ‘live’ for purchases until early July.  This time delay is to allow MBS to stockpile as many used books as possible to give you cost effective choices.  The school (email ataylor@parishepiscopal.org) can provide information about the US booklist as it stands, but we reserve the right to make last minute changes up until July.  You are welcome to purchase books from wherever suits your needs best, please just confirm the ISBN is the same as we have listed on the MBS website in July.  A blast will be sent in mid June with detailed directions on textbook ordering.  Last year MBS had a phenomenal turnaround time – even during mid and late August books were being shipped immediately, with very little backorders.  We aim to make this transition seamless for your child and both the US administration and their advisors are available as school starts to help make sure they have everything they need to settle in to high school.

6th grade parents important for next year ~ Catalina Trip Deposit DUE!

7th Grade Catalina Trip registrations and deposit to Scholastic Tour & Travel were due on May 22. If you have not mailed your forms and payment to Scholastic please do so today!  Don't forget to include all three forms with your payment:

~Registration
~Health/Waiver
~Middle School Behavior Contract

Checks are made payable and mailed to Scholastic Tour & Travel. DO NOT SEND ANYTHING TO PARISH. All forms are on our Parish website under Middle School information. Click here to check out the Catalina Environmental Leadership Program (CELP). Questions? Contact: Vicki Eastland at vmeast@tx.rr.com.

6th Grade Heifer '09 and 8th Grade DC '09 slideshows were a hit!

Thanks to all the parents who came to watch it with us, more in each grade than ever before.  Students were given their own trip cds.  Pull up a seat, pop some corn and watch the fun at home with your child!

Report cards will be sent home the week of June 2:

If your child’s accounts have any outstanding balances or items owed, final report cards and transcripts will be held until the accounts are settled.

All Library Books are Due:

Please note as stated in the Parent & Student Handbook of 2008-2009:

"Report cards/progress reports are not issued to those students with overdue or lost books until these books have been found, replaced, or paid for."

Host Families Needed for Parish's Next International Student:
Parish has partnered with ASSIST, an established program that recruits and interviews students from fourteen different countries and places them in American independent schools. ASSIST has placed 3,500 students in its 36-year history. This year, Parish welcomed Eli Dimitrova from Bulgaria. Eli is a member of the junior class. We have just learned that Julius Schwarz from Germany will join our junior class for next year. We are looking for three host families, each of whom will host Julius for a trimester. Responsibilities of host families include housing, feeding, and transporting Julius, as well as making him feel welcome into your family. The benefits of hosting an international student are immeasurable, and the impact on your own children can be life-changing. If you are interested, please contact Ann Gravseth at agravseth@sbcglobal.net, Chris Berry at sannerberry@tx.rr.com, or Dave Davies at ddavies@parishepiscopal.org.
