It’s here! Have a safe and wonderful Christmas vacation, but first check out what went on at Parish this week. Enjoy…
Our community gathered a ton of food … and then some … for The North Texas Food Bank. Second grader Greyson Mokarow went home recently and told his dad that we needed “a ton of food” because the Food Bank’s supplies were running low. His father’s company took on the challenge and, Wednesday, delivered, literally a ton of food to the Midway Campus in honor of Greyson and the second grade class. The rest of the school pitched in with possibly a ton more donations to help those in need. We feel so privileged to be part of such a generous community.
As we took a peek around this week, we caught Upper Elementary students in Middle School Spanish classes and Upper Schoolers dropping eggs off the fire escape… and the teachers were in on it!
Third and fourth graders read Spanish notebooks to Middle School students throughout the week to practice their pronunciation and vocabulary. This exercise also had an added mentoring benefit!
And what are we going to do with those physics students? The great egg drop this week is actually an applied physics problem requiring a lot of creativity. Students designed “egg carriers” to safely carry an egg from the fourth floor to the pavement below. They used their knowledge of impulse and momentum to design all sorts of interesting contraptions, including parachutes, helium balloons, packing materials, rubber bands and even grapefruits! We bet you’re saying better there than at home!
