ec_service_120707Lots ’n lots going on in the Parish Universe this week. Let’s get to it! Enjoy …

Our Middle School and Hillcrest students got their travel on this week. Last Friday was Middle School service day. Eighth graders went to several different agencies to spread holiday cheer, including the CC Young Retirement and Nursing Center to make gingerbread houses with the residents.

Kindergarten students went to Appletree Court on Tuesday and the first and second grade choir sang at Sunrise Senior Living Center yesterday. Please take the time to tell these children how proud you are that they are working to bring joy to others.

dress_12070702The traveling didn’t stop there, though. Our third graders got into the action this morning when they visited second graders at Hillcrest for “Read for 2008.” The third grade students took some of their favorite books to share with their second grade friends!

Finally, the Upper Schoolers had fashion on the brain this week (shocking, we know!) Senior girls were fitted for their graduation gowns midweek (the excitement was palpable), and Fashion Club modeled the latest in hip-hop wear this morning.

Whew!

ms_service_120707This weekend all of us in the Parish Community will have the opportunity to give back a portion of our many, many blessings.

Sunday, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., is the designated drop off time for Christmas gifts for your adopted family. Upper School student volunteers will be on hand in the West Courtyard at the Midway Campus to help collect packages.

The awe-inspiring generosity of our great community will be evidenced through the abundance of gifts that will fill the Large Group Meeting Room awaiting distribution over the next couple of weeks.

Parish’s “Adopt a Family” participation is a seven-year tradition that began in the wake of 9-11-2001. Our community rallied to fill this need in the Dallas community when many corporate sponsors were directing their resources elsewhere.

Thank you so much, Parish! We are all truly blessed to be a part of such a warm, caring community.

  Parish PA

boys_120707Parish prides itself on our school community full of welcoming, generous and caring people. Within the Parents Association is a network of moms always ready to lend a helping hand to Parish families in need.

We call it our CARE group. Led by Leslie Shaunfield (Hillcrest Campus) and Nancy Jones (Midway Campus), and supported by families in each grade, they assist Parish families during troubled times. Whether you need meals, transportation, babysitting assistance or a sympathetic ear, our parents are there for you.

Should you or a Parish friend encounter difficult times, please let Leslie or Nancy know so they can coordinate help through the many willing hands of our parent community.

We pray for a healthy, happy and safe holiday season for all!
