Fall is definitely in the air. Parish students have made the most of this refreshing week. Enjoy …
The world is literally at our students fingertips. Our Hillcrest students make the most of their weekly library time where they can broaden their boundaries and soak up knowledge about the world. Then these ideas are reinforced in the classroom. Some grandparents and parents visited second graders Monday to add to their Ancient Greece unit.
Middle School students also struck out to explore other cultures this week. Seventh graders visited the Dallas International School, Tuesday, to get a feel for the French school system. And, talk about having your cake and eating it, too – this awesome field trip was followed by French cuisine at La Madeleine. Don’t ’ya sometimes wish you could have your children’s lives?
Our Upper School students took the exploration of the world to a whole ’nother level. The Precal Honors class related math to nature. These juniors did the math on things like ocean and sound waves. For example, did you know mice “speak” between 60,000 to 100,000 frequencies so that cats (who can only hear up to 60,000) can’t hear them? Huh?
And to wrap up the week, our students used their skills to benefit the world. Elliot Howe, Annemarie McQuary and Victoria Robertson found out today during Chapel that their designs will be used as part of the Community Partners of Dallas note card collection. Congratulations!
