Around Campus
|
|
We rolled full steam ahead into October this week. Take a look at the hot happenings. Enjoy …
Can we get a drum roll, please? Sophomore Julia Pitch has been named the winner of the Homecoming t-shirt design contest. Congratulations, Julia. We can’t wait to get our tees! Speaking of coming through for our community … several members of our Upper School put together a pep rally for the varsity girls’ volleyball team yesterday during lunch. The school spirit must have worked. The girls upended Prestonwood Christian. Way to Go!
The Middle School’s chapel program virtue of the month is Wisdom. Seventh grade English teacher Chase Palamar spoke about how parents might be wiser than some students think. Take your chance to get in a few pointers while the speech is still fresh in their minds!
Animals galore were in front of the Midway Campus building this morning. Pets and their owners turned out in mass for the annual Blessing of the Animals tradition. Plus, the third grade extended this tradition to the Operation Kindness Animal Shelter later in the day. What a great way to spread some Parish love.

It wasn’t exactly raining cats and dogs at Hillcrest this week. Wednesday’s Blessing of the Animals was canceled because of an early morning downpour. Look for more details on the rescheduled event. But don’t feel too badly for our youngest students; Tuesday, the Peacemaker program visited students to perform and to tackle themes of tolerance and friendship in a light-hearted way. AND some pre-k students even found time to do some SERIOUS work (see left)!

Weekend Update
|
|
LET’S GO PANTHERS! There are 16 sports calendar items this weekend, beginning tonight when the Parish Panthers square off against Prestonwood Christian. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. at Prestonwood.
On a completely different note, several of our students will be sitting down to take the SAT tomorrow.
Finally, kick back and recupe on Monday. It’s FALL BREAK! Everyone but our seniors, who will be at Sky Ranch on their class retreat, have the day off!

Hot Topic
|
|
There’s so much going on this week we couldn’t choose just one hot topic, so here’s a brief run down on both!
Forget about that whole dropping the check in the mail thing. (Well, actually, we’ll take that, too) Parish has rolled out another first. Beginning this week, members of the Parish Community can make their Annual Fund gifts online by clicking on the Annual Fund icon on the Parish homepage and following the prompts. OR you can just skip all of the hassle and click here. This is meant to make this process user-friendly, simple, quick, secure, convenient, with the times … well, perfect. Please take the time to check it out.
Now, on to the next topic. Mrs. Gloria Snyder has announced the agenda for Thursday’s Board of Trustees’ Town Hall Meeting. It will begin at 6 p.m. sharp in the Large Group Meeting Room on the Midway Campus. There will be financial information, brief reports on the Strategic Plan, BOT goals for ’07-’08 and a Q&A time.
Questions may be sent prior to the meeting to Paul Tidmore. We hope to see you there!
