The Parish Universe is BUSY! Here’s a little piece of the action. Enjoy …
Welcome to the Doors of Parish tour. This week was Red Ribbon Week, and our fifth and sixth graders decked out their classroom doors to get the message out. Congrats to Liz Kraft’s class who took home the big prize in the door decorating competition. It pays to have the boss on the door.
Last Saturday, our MS and Varsity cross country teams spread some good will as they prepared for their District competitions. Our runners finished a 5K at Oktoberfest to help Wipe Out Kids Cancer. What great young people you’re raising!
Ask some of our Middle School art students what they’re up to if you get a chance. We found one group of students working on a charcoal likeness of themselves. Talk about a custom head shot.
Kindergarten class took the stage during Chapel, Wednesday, to get the audience pumped up about Noah’s Arc. It’s one of the few times The Church of the Transfiguration allows “animals” (our kindergartners in disguise) into the sanctuary.
Finally, the week ended on a positive note when fourth grade representatives spoke at Upper School and Middle School chapel. These poised boys and girls asked the entire Midway Campus to join them in observing their zones of respect – the Chapel, the reception area, the classrooms and the cafeteria line. Great idea, guys. We should all work to make this a great place to be!

Weekend Update
|
|
LET’S GO PANTHERS! Tonight is Hillcrest and Upper Elementary spirit night at the home varsity football game vs. Lutheran. Come out and enjoy the fun.
Football doesn’t have the corner on Panthers in action this weekend. Nearly every Middle School and Upper School team has something going on, including JV and varsity volleyball vs. the faculty beginning at 4 p.m. in the gym.
The Model UN is learning how government operates with a pre-conference to their conference at UNT Saturday morning.
Sunday takes a more poignant note with All Episcopal School Sunday. The Church of the Transfiguration will recognize Parish at a service that begins at 9 a.m.

Hot Topic
|
|
This week’s hot topic is short and sweet. When it comes to the safety of our students – your children – we mean business. We firmly believe that in order for children to learn, they must feel safe and secure. We also recognize and appreciate your confidence in us – your trust – when you drop your children off each day.
This attitude was especially evident this week at the Hillcrest Campus. Our families who have children on that campus are probably already aware of the locked doors policy. For those of you who haven’t visited Hillcrest lately, let us fill you in.
ALL external doors on the Hillcrest Campus are locked during regular school hours. The hours in which each door will remain locked is printed on the door. This action has been taken this year to help us keep an accurate list of who is on campus. All visitors must check in at the front desk where a key will be checked out to you so that you can get into the building you’re going to.
This process became a little easier this week when a buzzer was installed at the main entrance in front of the Hillcrest Office. Just hit the button, and the receptionist will “buzz” you in.
Thank you for respecting our important safety measures we have put into place.

Parish PA

|
Paris came to Parish Saturday with a crowd of 100. Parish moms and students strutted their stuff on the runway set up in the Crescent complex courtyard.
The latest fall fashions were provided by host Stanley Korshak, and all ticket sales proceeds benefit the Parish Parents Association.
Thanks to all who participated in and helped coordinate this wonderful event!
