 Around Campus

school_supplies_08310702Welcome back from summer vacation! The halls of both campuses were full of activity, smiles and conversation. We even managed to fit in a little learning, too. We look forward to keeping you up on all of the cool “stuff” that goes on in the Parish Universe. This newsletter will be emailed to parents each Friday. Enjoy…

play_environment_083107Believe it or not, we are already seeing uniform infractions. Girls – put those shoes on! Boys – the hair police are on the prowl! Please refer to your uniform guidelines, and inspect your children if necessary to ensure they “meet code.”

If you are on the Hillcrest Campus and are reminiscent of a pizzeria, the garlic smell is NOT coming from the cafeteria. The school has treated the vegetation to keep the mosquitoes and fire ants away from our little ones. The compound uses A LOT of garlic and is all natural. It is not harmful to children.

  Weekend Update

running_083107You’ve worked hard and deserve a break! We know getting your families back into school mode can be exhausting, but take a breath. There will be no classes Monday, Labor Day, and the School’s master calendar is empty.

There will be no easing back into the routine, however, for Panther athletic teams. This weekend’s calendar is packed with volleyball and football games fifth grade and up. Varsity football will open at home at 7:30 p.m., tonight, in our brand new (almost completed) sports complex. Varsity volleyball will travel to the Hill Country Tournament through Saturday.

  Hot Topic

The beginning of school never gets old. We are always struck by the “newness” of each new year, by the enthusiasm displayed by students, faculty and staff, and parents – by the opportunity to make a fresh start.

With each beginning, however comes a bit of a learning curve for everyone. One of the new Parish fixtures for the 2007-2008 school year is parking stickers for students, faculty and staff.

This program is designed to help us recognize visitors and to be able to easily identify to whom a vehicle belongs. It is a wonderful, yet simple, safety measure and might save parents some headaches if we can tell your child to go turn off the car lights, move out of a fire zone, etc.

That being said, the effectiveness of this measure rests on one tiny detail – putting your sticker on the back driver’s side window. The sticker is rendered useless if it is on your desk, in your locker, under the bed – you get the picture. Please help us keep our community as safe as possible and make sure the sticker is present on the appropriate vehicles.

Welcome back, and we look forward to a great year!

  PESPA

third_grade_083107The Parish Parent Association is looking forward to a great year and already has lots of fun fellowship events planned to help us all get to know each other!

Our first PA Meeting will be at 8:30 a.m., Sept. 11, in Roper Hall on the Hillcrest Campus.  All Parish parents are invited to attend any of our four yearly meetings!  There will be coffee, so stop by after carpool!
