Ready or not – school starts Tuesday, and your kiddos are already gearing up in a big way! The Parish Universe has been abuzz with activity all week. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s been goin’ on. Enjoy…
Today, the Midway Campus is an AWESOME place to be. All 3rd-12th graders are here for orientation. 3rd graders went on a scavenger hunt to help them get used to their new digs. Middle Schoolers piled into the Chapel to come together as a group before they got down to business, and the Upper School was treated to a big ol’ ice cream sundae, so we captured them taking a scoop for The Scoop (Get it? We know… ha, ha, ha!)
Our athletes have been super busy for the past three weeks getting in shape and in sync for the upcoming cross country, football and volleyball season. Can you say 1.5-hour evening practices, 2-a-days and preseason tournaments? Panthers are certainly puttin’ in the time, so let’s all get out and support their dedication as the sports seasons kick off.
Parent volunteers were the main attraction on Wednesday as our community turned out in droves to get all things Parish-related at Back-to-School day. Thank you to all of you who were involved in this magnificent undertaking. You are invaluable in making sure we all start off on the right foot.
Our little bitty ones have been treated to home visits by their classroom teachers this week. It’s a Parish tradition for all pre-k and kindergarten students and new students in 1st-4th grades to get this special time with their teachers. What a wonderful way to welcome new families into this community! Let’s all follow suit, and take the time to make them feel at home as well.
Welcome Back, Panthers!!!

With all the calendars and schedules floating around, we thought we’d make it a little easer for ya. Here are a few important things for you to remember in all the back-to-school craziness.
Hillcrest parents: Orientation for 1st and 2nd grades is happening Monday.
Middle School parents: Remember to turn in those Discipline Contracts, Parent Authorization Forms, Health Forms, etc, by Tuesday. Also, class pictures are scheduled for Aug. 28 (Yes, that’s THURSDAY), so you might want to make sure your child(ren) look extra shiny that day. And, looking ahead, Honors and High Honors awards from the 2008 Spring trimester will be handed out Sept. 5, in the Chapel (7th/8th – 11:25 a.m., 5th/6th – Noon).
Upper Elementary and Upper School parents: Your kids report bright and early at 8 a.m., Tuesday.
We are looking forward to the start of school. It’s gonna be a GREAT YEAR!!!
