1. Parish Episcopal is TAPPS District 2 - 5A, District School of the Year...taking 4th place in State, up from 16th place last year.
2. Lia Oberstar-Brown named TAPPS 5A All-Sports, All State Coach of the Year Coach Oberstar-Brown has led the Panthers Swimming and Diving Team to Back-to-Back 5A State Championships.
As well as excelling from the pool deck, Coach Oberstar-Brown practices what she preaches; she won four individual National Championships and one relay (record-breaking time) National Championship in the National Masters meet in Austin, May 2–4, 2008.
3. Four Parish Coaches named District Coach of the Year in their respective sports: Jenny Neuhoff, Volleyball; Jason Samuels, Basketball-Girls; Marc Addington, Soccer-Girls; and John Griffin, Softball.
4. Lady Panthers Softball was named in the top 100 in the all schools (UIL, TAPPS & SPC) year-end rankings based on the performance statistics and win/loss record.
5. Dax Powell named Parish New Head Varsity Baseball Coach Long-time Dallas-area coach, Powell’s baseball career began in his hometown of Denison, Texas, where he led the Yellow Jackets to the UIL state playoffs in 1992-93 and an appearance in the state finals in Austin.
Powell earned a scholarship to the University of Oklahoma where he was a part of the 1994 College World Series Championship team. After the 1995 season, Powell transferred to the University of Texas where he played in 1996, and the Horns won the SWC. After suffering an elbow injury, Powell was forced to retire from baseball and focus on academics and a coaching career.
His coaching experience includes Grayson County College, Trinity Christian Academy, Texas Rangers (2003), Coppell Copperheads, and Euless Lone Stars.
Coach Powell served last season as a varsity assistant coach and handled the Panthers' pitching staff. 6. Hundreds of Student-Athletes participate in Panther Athletics Summer Sports Camps … some camps still to come and are filling fast … see information below.
7. Club Varsity Lacrosse-Boys to field an Upper School team this coming season (Spring ’09). Please contact Ted Stoinoff to reserve your place on the team and get additional information.
8. Club Lacrosse-Girls will field a Middle School team this coming season (Spring ’09). Please contact Gina Thompson to reserve your place on the team and get additional information.
9. It’s not too early to sign up for all sports, 5th–12th grades, at Parish. If you didn’t get to sign up before school let out and you don’t want to wait until Back-to-School Day, please forward an e-mail to your sport’s coach or to Athletic Director, Brad Moore. This is inclusive of all sports: fall, winter and spring.
10. The Students Sports Management Group is forming for next year’s sporting events … this is inclusive of statisticians, videographers, photographers and events management. If you want to be part of the sports action and enjoy the management side of these activities, please send an e-mail to Coach Neuhoff.

Coach Addington and Coach Savage will be conducting both the boys’ and the girls’ Panther Soccer Team Open Training (Grades 9–12). July 28-July 31 (Thursday) from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome and strongly encouraged to attend. Please email if you have any questions. Bring sunscreen and water!

Big Man Camp for Linemen is back on the summer schedule. Each camper will develop an understanding of speed training and the proper body mechanics of movement. Football instruction will be tailored to the experience level of each student and lineman positions. Coaching will be provided by Coach Jeff Chase, Coach Nady and lineman specific coaches. Fun will be a main agenda item.
