  Around Campus

We were all about the passing of the torch around here! Enjoy…

iowa_052308It’s official. The 3rd graders have crowned the 2nd graders the newbies at Midway. During a fun, exciting and meaningful Fly Up ceremony yesterday (complete with some braggin’ about how much was raised for the library as their parting gift), the Class of ’18 was welcomed by the Class of ’17 to the Upper Elementary, reassuring them that next year is going to be the best yet. And let us just tell ya, if the graduating years of these youngsters don’t make you feel old, their energy just might. Parish spirit is abundant with this group!

With patriotism and pride, the 5th graders conducted the Parade of States this afternoon. The floats that represent each of the 50 states were creative and symbolized movin’ on and movin’ up for the class. It’s their last big project before finals come a knockin’. Congrats to this bunch for puttin’ on a great show and for making it through the first year of Middle School with flying colors!

juniors_052308And the seniors were MORE THAN HAPPY to pass on the coveted blue shirts to the juniors on Tuesday. During chapel, Class of 2008 officers imparted a few last words of wisdom and impressed upon the Class of 2009 how important their leadership would be over the next year. Then came the moment the juniors have been eagerly waiting on since at least Spring Break… the seniors granted them permission to begin wearing the blue shirts that symbolize they are now the top dawgs around here. Oh, it’s just one more hint that the Class of ’08 is just about outta here!

  Hot Topic

zrubek_052308Okay, okay, okay… so we know the end of the year isn’t OFFICIALLY here, but this morning we got the party started – with a royal flare! Upper Elementary students and faculty (as well as a few high powered friends) crowned Linda Zrubek “Queen Z” in recognition of her retirement at the end of this school year after 25 years of service. Good luck, don’t forget about us, and we hope you get some much deserved rest.

As for the rest of us, we still have a little bit of work to do. Here’s a few friendly reminders to help your summer run smoothly:

1. Get those library books in! We know it’s probably low on the totem pole of priorities right about now, but we need ’em back so that students can enjoy them next year!
2. Make sure all of the stuff that belongs at your house makes it there. If you’re missing something, make sure to check out the lost and found. There are still several items left to be claimed!
3. Click here to make your summer plans. There’s still time to sign up for Parish’s Summer program. It’s a great way to make sure your kids have an enriching, supervised and fun few weeks.
4. Breathe! SUMMERTIME is almost here! We hope you’ve had a great year!

And remember… we’re all off on Monday in observance of Memorial Day. Have a great long weekend. We know you need it!
