  Around Campus

The Parish Universe had so many things going on this week, it was hard to keep up! Enjoy...

It's not quite "City Slickers", but maybe close at Camp Classen this week. Our metro kids loaded up for a little camping, R&R and bonding and headed to Oklahoma this week. Fishing, fossil hikes and scavenger hunts were all on tap as our fifth graders got a little more in touch with Mother Nature. Let's all pray for their safe return today and gear up for some great Fish Tales!

Upper School students hit the raod, too, this week. Congrats to our tennis teams! The girls won their third District title, and the boys earned their first championship. And, go figure, they combined to win the overall Championship as well!

Our arts students are hoping for the same type of success at the ISAS Arts Festival in Wichita. TONS of students from ALL OVER the Southwest gathered yesterday for the three-day event. In typical teenager fashion, we haven't gotten too many details yet, but we'll pass them on via the Parish web site as soon as we get them!

Confused about the current presidential campaign? Our seventh graders will help you sort it out. Thanks to a persuasive writing project in Roz Liberman's class, our kids can tell you the difference in the candidates' war and health care stances, not to mention their experience levels. They've already given their speeches and unveiled their ad campaigns, so they should be ready to talk shop.

It's time to talk peanut butter again (you REALLY didn't think we were going to let you forget about it, did ya?) Our great community turned out in droves (including our Board President Sherel Horsely) to support Oprah's Big Give Operation North Texas by dropping off jar after jar of pb during Hillcrest carpool. Thanks for giving back to the Dallas community. Your generosity is truly appreciated.

Our artists have arrived! Several of our fifth through 12th graders' works will be on display at the Dallas Museum of Art!

For the first time, we are participating in the DMA's Young Artist Program, which runs April 17-20, righ through the annual Arts Ball!

The theme of the exhibit is Land Over Sea, and each work reflects the influence of the English landscape painter J.M.W. Turner, whose work is currently on exhibit at the museum.

Let's all turn out next week to support our young talent!
