  Around Campus

There was no resting around here this week. So much to report, so little space. Enjoy…

For once it wasn’t the kids on the phone all evening. Tuesday, about 15 parents gathered at the School to make Annual Fund calls. Thanks to their efforts, we were able to raise participation nearly 10 percent. Thank you all for your support and for helping us toward our goal of 100 percent school wide participation! If you haven’t made your gift and would like to help us reach our goal, click here.

“Cinderella, Cinderella. Night and day, it’s Cinderella.” Hillcrest students were treated to the Fort Worth Opera’s somewhat updated take on the classic fairytale this week. The traveling show played in the Hillcrest gym, and talk about an attentive audience. Seriously, you could’ve heard a pin drop. Seriously!

“Hey, what kind of rock is this?” It’s one of the dreaded questions that nearly every parent is asked at some point. Now, you can just send your inquisitive children to our fourth graders. They learned to identify several different minerals during lab this week. We could definitely learn a thing or two from these little smarties!

Several Upper School students decided to boost the overall wellness efforts at Parish through a sports medicine project. They offered a “free clinic” during lunch periods to test body fat and to take blood pressure readings. The students were game, but the adults hung back a little. Imagine that!

The halls today are looking a bit like a ghost town. No, it’s not people knockin’ off early for Spring Break. Our eighth graders have been in D.C. all week; the sophomores and juniors are on their class retreats; the seniors are in Oak Cliff for a day of service at Promise House, and the fourth graders are getting a firsthand look at Texas history in Austin. Let’s all pray for a rewarding experience and a safe return.

  Hot Topic

baseball_031408For those of you who have practice over the break, here are a few tips that will make your life easier. For athletic practices, please have your athletes enter through the gym lobby doors or go directly to the fields.

Spring musical rehearsal for all cast members is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., March 24. Students should enter the Black Box from the second courtyard only.

Thank you in advance for helping us keep everybody corralled and safe.

Enjoy Spring Break and Easter weekend! We’ll catch you back here Tuesday, March 25, rested and ready to go!
