We have lots to report. Enjoy…
Eighth grade social studies classes were consumed with an important project – like choosing a location for the National Capitol. No, they weren’t plotting a raid on D.C. while they are visiting there next week. They reenacted the roles of delegates from the 13 original states and sought to reach an agreement on how to repay the war debt and where to locate the Federal Government. We’ll let you know what they came up with.
If the inclement weather we're experiencing isn’t quite your cup of tea, don’t worry, spring is right around the corner, and roses will be blooming this May in Farmers Branch thanks to a dozen or so Parish students who planted about 700 plants last month! The Earthkind Trial Garden at Gussie Park is a pretty big deal in the ag community, and we do mean AGS! Texas A&M partnered with the city for this unique beautification project. We think even you Longhorns will appreciate this effort!
Lights. Camera. Action! The third graders strutted their stuff on the Reading Runway during the early part of the week. They played to a sold out second grade audience as they brought to life important world figures. The show was the culmination of lots of research and time with PowerPoint, not to mention the not-so-small task of putting together a costume! Thank you to all of you parents for your participation. It was SO WORTH IT!
Speaking of parent participation, you turned out in droves to Hillcrest Fine Arts Night. From young Picassos to Maya Angelous, the art and community spirit was exceptional! When you get a chance, you should ask our youngest students to interpret their creations for you. They are really quite astute!

Moms, moms were everywhere for Hillcrest Mothers' Visiting Day this week. We hope you enjoyed the opportunity to catch a glimpse of a day in the life of our students.
We also would like to thank you for your patience while our parish church, The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, undergoes some significant expansion. We know that parking and carpool can present some challenges, but please bear with us. Things have been running smoothly so far thanks, in great part, to the cooperation of our wonderful community.
We will keep you up to date on the parking procedures for upcoming events, including Grandparents’ & Friends’ Visiting Day. Again, thank you for your continued understanding and support!

The inaugural “I Like Big Putts” Challenge was a big “hit” at the Gala on Saturday. To play, folks paid $25 to try a 30-foot putt. The successful participants then went on to the Final Round.
Congratulations to winners John Vassalo and Dana Harrah who edged out 90 hopefuls and 11 finalists after sinking two 30-foot puts in one night!
Be sure to check the Parish web site and School communications in the upcoming weeks to get the roundup of Gala 2008. Thank you to all who made it such a successful, fun event!
