Cross your fingers and your toes this afternoon as our girls’ basketball team takes on Tomball Lutheran Concordia in the state semifinals. Tip off is at 1 p.m. at the Blossom Athletic Center in San Antonio. Check up on the Panthers by visiting the School’s website. We will post the latest information as soon as we get it. GO PANTHERS!
We could’ve mistaken our seventh grade social studies classes for South America this week when students gave a mature version of Show & Tell as they explained different aspects of the cultures to our south. One of the more interesting presentations dealt with a student’s personal instrument collection – complete with a steel drum, rain stick, shaker and assorted wooden instruments. The most impressive part was, however, the fact that he could ACTUALLY PLAY all of them!
Curtsy and bow please. You are in the presence of royalty – snow royalty at least. Congratulations to this year’s Snow King and Queen, Nicholas Imhoff and Caroline Miesch. These two were chosen by the third graders based on the creativity of their Snow Hats made out of marshmallows and tooth picks. Snow Day is an annual fourth grade event that wraps up the “Snow Treasure” reading unit.
The second grade got into the spirit of Chinese New Year this morning with the Lion Dance. The costumes and performances were great, and what a great introduction to Tuesday’s Hillcrest Arts Night. The theme? You guessed it – Chinese art!

Many times, when “official” information comes from your school, we know you think you are getting the “PC” version of what we really mean.
Take for example, the new Head of School search process. Many of you have not taken the opportunity to fill out the Head of School search questionnaire posted on the Parish website. We really are not just paying lip service to community involvement. Your opinions are incredibly important to the School and to the search committee as we delve into this important process.
Your survey will remain anonymous and will go directly to the search firm the School has employed to help us identify qualified candidates. If you were not able to attend one of the open forums (plenary sessions) that were recently held, please take the time to give us your feedback.
Thank you so much for having a vested interest in Parish! Have a great weekend, and don’t forget – Gala 2008 is tomorrow night!
