Accolades have been flying in the Parish Universe this week. Enjoy…
Our Middle School MathCounts team had it going on Saturday! Thanks to a third place finish just behind Highland Park and St. Mark’s, our students will travel to state in Austin at the end of March. Our eight-member team edged out Hockaday, Christ the King and ESD, and eighth grader Blake Wilcox had the second highest score out of 160 participants! Way to go, guys!
Sophomore Lizzie Cavner earned bragging rights when she landed third place at the prestigious Black and White Images Exhibition of Photographs by High School Artists held at Fort Worth Country Day School. Please take the time to congratulate her on this honor!
Young Einsteins invaded the Upper Elementary hallway, Thursday, for the Invention Convention. Third and fourth grade parents were treated to presentations by their children about their creations. Fourth graders solved environmental issues, and third graders tackled simple machines. Their inventions were one of a kind and truly exceptional!
Speaking of something out of the ordinary, check out what our second graders were up to during P.E. Students were given the chance to work as a team and to trust their classmates when they walked the rungs of a ladder held two to three inches off the floor by the rest of the class. Anyone could pass on the walk, but those who participated had a great time!

Our sixth graders and several adult chaperones are currently headed back from Heifer Ranch in Arkansas. It’s a chance for us city slickers to experience some green acres while learning about some important environmental issues as well.
This sixth grade trip is just one of several off-campus trips that are part of the Parish Experience. Beginning in fourth grade straight through to senior year, our classes bond at such exotic locales as Austin, Catalina, Washington D.C. and Bridgeport!
Let’s all pray for a safe, fun trip home for our sixth grade group. Also, take the time to talk to some of our kids about these trips. They are often times once-in-a-lifetime experiences that are usually one of the highlights of the school year.
