  Around Campus

We couldn’t cram more into one week. Here’s a condensed version. Enjoy…

Dads packed the Upper Elementary and Middle School halls this morning to catch a glimpse at what goes on here daily. We think they were enchanted by their children and impressed by their environment.

Last night Parish theater made history with the first student directed play. You can catch encore performances of “Steel Magnolias” and “Flowers for Algernon.” Check out the web for all the details, and prepare to be dazzled!

Earlier this week, we found out about this week’s athletic playoff pairings. The games begin tonight. Check here for the latest info. LET’S GO PANTHERS!!!

The sixth graders visited fourth graders to read their original stories to them. The exercise was part of their writing curriculum, and the fourth graders soaked up their creativity. The sixth graders finished out their busy week with a field trip to the Crow Museum and to the DMA. The trip reinforced their current Japanese units in social studies and reading. Yeah, it’s fun to be a Parish sixth grader!!!

The second graders made like statues during the Wax Museum exhibit this week. This is their chance to dress the part of one of their famous heroes and to give a little bit of information about them to the community. If we do say so ourselves, history never looked so good!

Finally, Mrs. Gende’s physics class made paper roller coasters to show off their knowledge of Conservation of Mechanical Energy. Some measurements were taken to calculate the velocity of a marble along the complicated track to determine the changes of energy. Impressive, right?

Ahhh, l’amore. Love was in the air this week as Valentine’s Day descended upon us. To spread the love, we sent care packages to our 2007 alums.

Fourth graders made Valentine’s cards, and our eighth graders packaged up goodies, including a Parish laundry bag, to send on their way. Hopefully the laundry bag will be used at college and not just to bring their dirty clothes home to mom and dad!

This type of community spirit gives new meaning to “once a Panther, always a Panther”!

Have a great three-day weekend, and we’ll catch you back here Tuesday!
