Welcome to Visual & Performing Arts
MISSION: The mission of the Arts program is to empower students to create, perform and respond with knowledge, skill and confidence.
VISION: The Arts department’s vision is to fully integrate Parish’s college preparatory arts curriculum with Parish’s mission of definitive preparation. This artistic vision encompasses each student’s intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being. PARISHarts, as part of Parish Episcopal School, recognizes the universal language of the arts and its' integral role in the improvement of the human condition in a globally aware environment. We strive to advance each student’s academic, artistic and social skills so they become independent and creative young adults with a lifelong interest in the arts. We believe that these skills and qualities will prepare our students to successfully pursue further educational goals and allow them to contribute to the life and well-being of society as a whole. Our vision includes the belief that:
- A strong arts program unlocks and supports the academic, spiritual, emotional, and physical potential of our students.
- Students learn best in a safe, joyful environment that values high standards in teaching and learning.
- The visual and performing arts encourage each individual to work in a creative and collaborative manner while promoting critical thinking and clear communication.
NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR:
The importance of an education in which the arts are embedded cannot be over stated because the study of the arts is a path to true joy. It is with this in mind that the the PARISHarts faculty infuses their love of the arts into all of their classes. From pre-kindergarten through grade 12 and beyond, Parish students are encouraged to explore all aspects of the arts to develop skills, appreciation, and insight that will benefit them throughout their lives.
" I have never met anyone whose life was not improved by their study of and contact with the arts."
Dr. Karl Leopold Reiss
Director of Visual and Performing Arts
