Summer Policies

Medication Policy

The nurse and/or office personnel must administer all medication. Any parent who wishes prescription and/or non-prescription drugs to be administered to his/her child must have a Parent Authorization form on file in the clinic along with the prescription and/or non-prescription drug. The prescription and/or non-prescription drug must be clearly labeled with the student’s name, dosage and time to be administered.

All medication taken at school must be prescribed by a physician or dentist licensed to practice in the State of Texas.

Prescription drugs will be given only if they are sent in the original container with the prescription label and accompanied by a Parish Prescription Medication Permission Form. Loose medication in baggies will not be accepted.

When you are having a prescription filled, most drug stores will be happy to give you a second container with the amount of medication to be given during school hours separate from that to be given at home.

All over-the-counter medicines such as cough drops, cough syrups, antihistamines, creams, lotions, sprays, and pain relievers are not allowed at school unless accompanied by (1) a signed written doctor's order giving specific instructions for taking and (2) a parent note.

Please be aware that hard cough drops and throat lozenges are not allowed, nor should a student carry any medicine with them.

If a student requires an EpiPen by his/her physician they are considered to have severe allergies at Parish Episcopal School.

A stident with a severe allergy is by definition any student diagnosed with an allergy to an environmental or ingestion oriented adverse reaction that requires an EpiPen.
