SAGE DINING Service

Parish Episcopal School partners with SAGE Dining Services to provide our students with healthy, high-quality food including fresh vegetables, fruit and whole grains. This services, which is included in the overall tuition*, treats our students to real food, cooked from scratch. SAGE`s seasonal menus are custom designed for us, reflecting the students' preferences as well as fresh products available in the market. Sustainable practices are also a priority of SAGE which aligns well with practices and experiential learning curricula throughout the School.

FAQ

Is breakfast included in the dining fee?

No, breakfast is cash only and is served only on the Midway campus.

Is breakfast available the first day of school, Aug. 25?

Absolutely!

How do I pay for breakfast if I want that feature?

Breakfast passes can be purchased at the PAWS student store. You may purchase a card by the day for $5 (all you can eat price for the day). The card is turned in to a SAGE representative at the time you get your breakfast.

What are the breakfast and lunch times?

Breakfast is served at the Midway campus only between 7-8:00 a.m. There is no breakfast served at the Hillcrest campus.

Lunch at Midway is served in shifts starting at 11:05 a.m. and concluding at 1:00 p.m.

Hillcrest lunch times are from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Check wtih your division assistant to obtains specific grade/class lunch times.

How long will my student have to eat lunch?

Each lunch session is 30 minutes.

Can my student buy a lunch item at PAWS?

We strongly encourage your student to take advantage of the professionally designed lunches in the cafeteria. However, we will sell any item to any student out of PAWS (5th grade and up) that may be taken to the atrium for breakfast or lunch. Students in 3rd and 4th grade may go to PAWS before or after school with a parent or aftercare teacher.

How will my account work in PAWS?

Student accounts may be set up in PAWS with cash, check or cedit card, online via the PAWS Store Accounts Form (myParish login required), over the phone by calling PAWS or in-person by visiting the PAWS store.

PAWS will not sell any item to a student without avialable funds in their account.

My student is at Hillcrest. How is lunch handled at that campus?

Lunches are served from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in 30 minutes sessions.

A separate daily menu is available for viewing on the SAGE website. Also, hot lunches are available for Afternoon PreK students. Afternoon PreK lunches can be purchased through ParishEXTEND (login required).

My student has gluten, dairy or other special food restrictions. How do I communicate this to the School?

The SAGE food service director, Ralph Santiago, is available to work directly with you regarding your student’s special dietary needs. He can be reached via email r.santiago@sagedining.com or by phone 972.239.8801 x2503.

How are gluten-free items or other special foods served?

Only packaged food (such as breads) in the serving lines are labeled gluten-free. SAGE can also prepare special meals on the spot if they are alerted to your student’s special dietary needs. Please contact Ralph Santiago at rsantiago@sagedining.com for more details.

Will I be able to look at ingredients on SAGE menu items?

Yes. The ingredient information is available on the SAGE web site.

How do I know which lunch items my student is eating?

A daily menu is posted online. The School will not monitor how many trips your student is making to the various food stations. SAGE will only serve one portion of an item at a time so the overall lunchtime will limit a student going back for an item multiple times.

SAGE studies have shown that food consumption initially is high due to the novelty of all-in dining, but then drops to normal levels soon after.

Please have a discussion with your student as to their food intake.

How do I know what my student may be purchasing at the PAWS store?

Our point of sale system at the PAWS store allows you as the parent to set dollar limits on your student’s account for categories of items that can be purchased by your student. These limits can be set online via the PAWS Sales Limit Request form (myPARISH login required).

Cash or debit/credit card sales cannot be similarly limited.

Can my student put food items in their backpacks or take food from the cafeteria for a snack later in the day?

No food may be taken from the cafeteria except for those eating outside in the east picnic table dining area. PAWS will continue to sell snack items throughout the day.

I want to be a lunch time volunteer. How do I do that?

We love volunteers as they help defray labor costs and they can be involved in an important school activity. Please log on to the myParish parent portal to access Volunteer Requirements and Opportunities.

How does the school make sure the SAGE employees are professionally trained and supervised?

All SAGE employees are required to take Safe Church training just like any Parish employee. In addition, SAGE requires background checks on all its employees.
