Current research1 indicates the high demand for employees with education and training in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Is your child prepared to meet that demand?
STEM education has gained national attention as research institutions and corporations have identified the problem solving, entrepreneurial and design skills associated with STEM disciplines as vital to the economic stability and national security of the country.
ParishSTEM has been recognized as a model for the purposeful integration of these STEM components across an entire PreK-12 program. Few schools nationally offer as rich an array of integrated STEM activities (interactive labs, activities, projects and enrichment classes experienced by all Parish students), co-curricular experiences in robotics, and after-school programming through ParishEXTEND as we do through ParishSTEM.
In fact, at Parish we take STEM two steps further. First, we provide all PreK - 12th grade students – not just those with a deep interest in the field – increased opportunity for relevant, applied, creative and collaborative learning which has been enhanced through partnerships with leading organizations:
- FIRST®LEGO® League and Perot Museum
- Project Lead the Way
- Dallas BEST Robotics
- Caruth Institute of Engineering Education at Southern Methodist University
Second, Parish has quickly established itself as a national leader in providing over 10,000 square feet of dedicated space for STEM and Design-thinking.
- PreK – 2nd grade visit the 4,000 sq. ft. Beasley STEM Center on the Hillcrest campus weekly and are guided through a wide range of STEM-based learning activities by a trained STEM instructor.
- Our DesignDen and two other satellite design sites on the Midway campus allow students in 3rd - 12th grade to demonstrate their understanding of concepts in a variety of subjects (and not always just STEM-related subjects) in a more hands-on way while securing enduring skills as creators, collaborators, and critical thinkers.
We encourage you to come and experience these programs and spaces for yourself, and see how your child will not only meet today's demand for STEM-based jobs, but the potential he or she has for exceeding any employer's expectations for years to come.
