EARLY CHILDHOOD DIVISION
The thrill of discovery enriches the primary years... The Early Childhood Division is located on the beautiful Hillcrest Campus at the corner of Spring Valley and Hillcrest Roads. Situated on a hill among beautiful trees and picturesque gardens, it is the perfect environment for our young students to begin exploring the world around them.
The Parish Episcopal School’s early childhood program was designed to intellectually pique young students’ curiosity by creating a stimulating atmosphere in which to learn. The program encourages each student to develop a wholesome and positive self image, fosters spiritual and cultural growth, and nurtures independence and responsibility.
Classes are structured to provide instruction that is developmentally appropriate and promotes divergent and critical thinking. Based on an emergent and integrated curriculum, lessons are developed around students’ daily exploration and enable them to make connections across subject areas.
Pre-Kindergarten – 2nd Grade Highlights • Center-oriented classrooms • Emphasis on written and oral expression • “Hands-on” and ”Minds-on” activities and experimentation • Motor Labs that teach large motor development • Introduction to Fine Arts • Chapel • Introduction to community service
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes are aimed at developing and expanding the child’s perceptual abilities, communication skills, creative expression, and the desire to read, write, and use numbers. In first and second grades, the primary years, strong fundamental skills in the core subjects are built, and as basic skills are mastered, the goal of the school is for students to become confident, self-motivated, and continuous learners.
