TAPPS Academic & Speech Competition February 7, 2008 Several of our students participated in the TAPPS Academic and Speech District competition, Feb. 6. Parish racked up several victories in numerous categories. The following students have qualified to advance to the State competition slated for April.
Ready Writing 3rd place - Emily Weaver 5th place - Amberley Romo
Number Sense 4th place - Andrew Wells
Advanced Math 2nd - Ellery Womack 3rd - Jonathan Pirkey
Solo Acting 4th place - Kyle Hughes
Duet Acting 5th place - Kyle Hughes and Michael DeLong
Literary Criticism 2nd place - Peter Antich
Spanish 4th place - Stefany Olague 5th place - Steve Peraza
Mathematics 1st place - Kelsey Musselman 2nd place - Michael DeLong
Original Oratory 4th place - Al Haidar
Poetry 5th place - Honoria Bush 6th place - Ted Moreland
Persuasive Speaking 5th place - Tanner Sledge
Current Events 5th place - Makram Haidar
If French had gone to state we would have had 3 going. Only 4 students (total) took the test and it was only a “demonstration” district event this year to see how much interest there was to revitalize the test at a state level.
