Moms in Touch Pray for Parish Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them. ~ Matthew 18:20
God is most definitely in the midst of the Moms in Touch, a weekly prayer group of Parish Episcopal School mothers who gather to pray for the school, students, teachers and administrators. The group is a chapter of Moms in Touch International (MITI), an organization founded in 1984 by a Poway, Calif.-based mother. The group’s mission is to “impact children and schools worldwide for Christ by gathering mothers to pray.”
Although moms are already praying, the official Parish Moms in Touch chapter launches Friday, January 18, from 8:10 to 8:45 a.m. in Room 1202 on the Midway campus under the leadership of Linda Dixon, parent of Paul (8th grade) and Troy (5th grade) and Laura Corley, parent of Annie (4th grade) and Anderson (2nd grade). The group gathers for prayer every Friday while school is in session.
Moms in Touch follows a structured format set by MITI. For example, meetings start promptly at 8:10 a.m. and end on time each week at 8:45 a.m. Each meeting includes Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication. Moms pray for specific students, teachers and administrators, as well as anyone in the school community with special needs.
“The group gives moms an opportunity to pray specifically for our children and have others pray with us,” Laura said. “It also provides an opportunity to meet moms with children in other grades, who I might not come in contact with otherwise, while connecting with the school.”
Another perk of the group is that it is casual. Members may come in casual clothes and are not required to attend every single meeting. “Come when you can, leave when you have to,” Laura said.
New members are welcome at any time! Call Linda Dixon, (214) 373-0550, or Laura Corley, (214) 553-9931, with any questions.
