Middle School News, 2007-2008
Middle School Spelling Bee January 8, 2008 The Parish Episcopal School Spelling Bee was held Dec. 21, 2007. In the weeks prior to the bee, students in grades five through eight took written spelling tests to determine who would participate in the bee.
Based on the test results, the following students took part: Sydney Yonack, Chris Axmann, Forrest Taylor, Jackson Olesky, Connor Fagin, Abigail Dorward, Cara Santucci, Jasmine Samei, Paige Hughes, Olivia Griffin, Sahil Vanjani, Brooke Bode, Ian Marks, Aman Awan, Jessie Cohen, Sam Haynie, Nikki Humble, Will Stewart, Jocelyn Lee, Alexandra Armstrong, Puja Moolamalla, Jonathan Wells, Elise Roth and Elliot Sherren.
The contest lasted about one hour and was filled with tension and excitement right down to the end when Forrest Taylor prevailed as the overall winner. Elliot Sherren came in second followed by Ian Marks in third place, Aman Awan in fourth, Jocelyn Lee in fifth and Connor Fagin in sixth.
The top five finishers will represent Parish at the Episcopal Schools’ Bee to be held at St. John’s in late January, and the sixth-place finisher will serve as an alternate should any of the first five be unable to attend.
