Parish holiday season begins December 4, 2007
Parish Episcopal students staged the school's first annual Madrigal Dinner on Nov. 30 to begin celebration of the Advent season. The middle school choir sang and students dressed in medieval costumes performed short skits in a dinner theater setting. Parish's school atrium was transformed into a 10th century mead hall.
"It is a venue for students who are involved in Music and Theatre to perform during the Christmas and Holiday Season," Parish middle school music instructor Greg Whitmore said.
The Madrigal theme has become a traditional transition to the holiday season. Parish seniors returned from Thanksgiving to decorate their class Christmas tree. The Parish community also is making preparations for more than a half-dozen Christmas programs coordinated with the Church of the Transfiguration.
Among the programs will be Parish's Bel Canto Upper School choir at the Advent of Lessons and Carols at 8 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration.
Before school dismissal Dec. 21, Parish families will coordinate a massive adopt-a-family project and toy drive. Parish students also will participate in a number of service projects including help for Bea's Kids of Carrollton, Dallas' downtown Austin Street Shelter and the North Texas Food Bank.
