Happy Homes Crèche (preschool)
A Parish outreach program in Justicia Community,
Limpopo Province in South Africa
In 2002, Parish Episcopal School and The Church of the Transfiguration took on the project of raising monies to build a classroom for preschool age children in Justica, South Africa. Many of the children had lost their parents to AIDS and needed a place to learn and be safe during the day. The project was facilitated by the Africa Foundation, a non profit organization in South Africa. The Parish community of students, teachers and parents raised $22,000 dollars. The school was built and dedicated in September of 2003. As a result of the school and churches efforts Bishop Desmond Tutu came to visit the Parish and church in 2006.
Now, in 2007 Parish again in partnership with Barnes and Noble would like to help the children of Justicia Community by helping raise money for two more classrooms by donating proceeds raised on Nov 7 at their community event “Parish Live” at Barnes and Noble Prestonwood. Approximately 15% of all sales during the day (9am-11pm) will be contributed to Happy Homes. Just tell the cashier you want your purchases credited towards Parish that day!
