The Parish Episcopal School Gift Opportunities
Friends of the school wishing to make gifts in honor of or in memory of a friend or relative may benefit The Parish Episcopal School by considering any of the following established funds.  Further information can be obtained from Ingrid Healy, Director of Development.

The Annual Fund
The Board of Trustees established the Annual Fund in 1989 so that tax-deductible parent contributions could provide additional funds that could be used to enrich the academic life of PES and help maintain a quality staff and programs.  This will provide another source of revenue in addition to tuition.  Contributions from parents, grandparents, staff, alumni and friends have been directed to such areas as the operating budget, professional development for the faculty and staff, technology, the Endowment Fund, the Faculty Development Fund, or areas of specific need or interest.

The Capital Campaign for The Parish Episcopal School
In September of 2002, The Board of Trustees voted to undertake one of the most important challenging steps in the recent educational history of Dallas: the creation of a new Episcopal middle school and high school located on a beautiful new campus. Over $10 million has been raised as of August 31, 2002, which has allowed for the purchase of the Midway campus and the retrofitting needed to start school.  The goal of the campaign is $21 million.  Additional contributions toward this goal will be used for much needed gym/athletic facilities and for additional retrofitting as we add grade levels.  Pledges may be made over a three-year period.

Class of 1998 Endowment for Professional Development
Under the leadership of Sixth Grade Gift Chairmen, Deb and Clint McDonnough, a permanent endowment fund was established for the purpose of awarding a yearly fellowship to one or more members of the faculty.  This would enable faculty to attend a nationally recognized conference or workshop for which the school might not otherwise have the funds for them to attend. The grant is awarded each year in the name of the Class of 1998.  Gifts made to the school after the students leave could also be designated to this fund so it would continue to grow.

Endowment Fund
The Parish Episcopal School Endowment Fund was established in 1983 for the purpose of promoting the mission of The Parish Episcopal School.  The fund seeks to fulfill this mission through the solicitation of funds from the greater Parish Episcopal School community and the development of the fund through prudent investment management into a source of capital to help meet the expanding operating needs of the school.

The Endowment Fund has grown to over $1,500,000 in total assets.  The fund played a significant role in the construction of the Gloria H. Snyder Special Events and Education Building by serving as the primary lender to the school for both short term construction financing and long term refinancing for Building E.  In August 1997, the Endowment Fund Board voted to help fund the new first grade center in Building D.  The funds allowed for the updating of Building D, the one-year funding of an additional first grade teacher for the language enrichment lab, and additional classroom equipment and resource materials.  Most recently, the school received a grant from the Endowment Fund to install a phone and intercom system in every classroom and complete the Alumni Colonnade.

Professional Endowment Fund
The Parents’ Association established this Teachers’ Endowment Fund to assist teachers in attending professional conferences and workshops.  It is a continuing fund to which contributions are gratefully received at any time during the year and put into a designated savings account.  Contributions to this fund are fully tax-deductible.

Jean Logan Brown Scholarship Fund
Since 1986---for over a decade---PES children had the benefit of Jean Brown’s belief that one of the greatest gifts we can give to children is the gift of being independent and self-reliant.  Upon her death in December 1997, a scholarship fund was established in memory of our dearly loved teacher, colleague, and friend.

Kate Hanaway Scholarship Fund
In memory of Kate Hanaway (1982-1991), a student who truly loved Parish Episcopal School, this fund was established to provide financial assistance for qualified students who might not otherwise be able to attend the school.  The interest earned on this fund is designated for the planting of flowers to add beauty to the campus.

Megan Elizabeth Keith Scholarship Fund
Megan Elizabeth Keith (1986-1998) first entered The Parish Episcopal School in the three years old program in 1990 and was a PES student for nine years.  School did not come easily for Megan, and her achievements were the result of her strong will, hard work, and adult support.  She put maximum effort into everything she tried and accomplished much, to the amazement of all except those who knew her well.  Megan always maintained an endearing sense of humor and exhibited concern and kindness toward her teachers and fellow classmates.  She was dearly loved and admired by many PES students, teachers, and staff.

This fund was established in the fall of 1998 after Megan’s parents, Kevin and Laura Keith, asked that a memorial scholarship fund be established in her name.  Recipients of grants from this fund will be students whose personal qualities and need for support are similar to those of Megan but whose financial resources are limited.  Requests for applications are to be made to the Head of School.

Library Fund
Donations to the Library Fund expand the library’s ability to serve classrooms, and enrich recreational and personal reading needs.  Your child may contribute by giving a book to the library on his or her birthday.  Books may be selected from the “gift-shelf” with payment by check to The Parish Episcopal School Library, before or after your child’s birthday.  You may also contribute directly to the Library Operating Fund or you may specify a use for the gift, such as encyclopedias, science books, or non-book acquisitions of audio-visual materials or special programs.

Ouida McGee Scholarship Fund
Ouida McGee taught school for 29 years and had three grandchildren who attended The Parish Episcopal School. Upon her death in August 1987, her daughter, Parish Episcopal School teacher Diane Roberts, asked that a scholarship fund be established in her memory.

Lauren Skinner Scholarship Fund
In memory of Lauren Skinner, granddaughter of Parish Episcopal School teacher Bee Skinner and a student of outstanding academic and citizenship achievements, this scholarship fund was established to provide financial assistance to an upper grade student recognizing outstanding academic and citizenship achievement.

Gloria Hoffman Snyder Scholarship Fund
The 1989-1990 Parents’ Association established the Gloria Hoffman Snyder Scholarship Fund in honor of Mrs. Snyder’s tenth anniversary as Headmistress of The Parish Episcopal School. At the time of her 20th Anniversary, many gifts were added to the principal of this fund.  Gifts continue to be received and are tax-deductible.

Tuition Assistance Fund
A $10,000 gift from a parent was made to the school in 1981.  Interest from this money has been used to enable currently enrolled students from families with financial difficulties to finish out a school year. Annual contributions from The Parish Episcopal School and the Parents’ Association add to this fund.  Money is allocated to this fund by the Board of Trustees in the yearly budget.

The mission of The Parish Episcopal School is to provide an enriching and challenging
educational experience within a Christian community of service and worship.
