Admission Policy
Students are selected for admission to the school on the basis of multiple criteria: academic readiness or qualification, maturity, affiliation with the school or The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, affiliation with another Episcopal church, diversity, gender balance, and appropriateness of the match between the family and the school. Testing is used as a tool to provide information to assist in the assessment of each applicant. In all cases, the school retains the right to determine, in its sole discretion, whether or not to select a student for admission or to re-enroll a student. The Admission Committee makes recommendations to the Head of School, who has ultimate authority and sole discretion in the decisions of whether or not to admit or re-enroll a student.

The Parish Episcopal School admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational practices, admission policies, scholarship, and loan programs, or athletic and other school administered programs. All persons are encouraged to apply.

All information gathered during the admission process is confidential and the sole property of the school.

Are wait lists maintained?
Wait lists are not maintained. If an applicant is qualified to attend The Parish Episcopal School but there are no places currently available, the applicant’s name will be placed in a “wait pool”. The wait pool is made up of qualified applicants available to fill a specific opening in a specific grade. Wait pools are not prioritized wait lists. When and if an opening arises in a particular grade, the Admission Committee determines the placement of the applicant in the appropriate age or grade level. Occasionally, a student may be invited to a position at a level other than that for which he or she applied. In these instances, the Admission Committee has carefully considered the many aspects of the student’s profile and has decided that placement at another level would best ensure success at the school.

Do priorities exist?
First siblings, then active, pledging members of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration and, lastly, active members of other Episcopal churches will be given preferred consideration in the admission process when all other factors are considered equal. We do not, however, give automatic priority to any applicant.

At what age level do you begin?
A child must be three years old by August 15 in order to start school in our Pre-K Level I class.
