Having learned the fundaments of proper exposure and
darkroom techniques in Traditional Photography I, students will be challenged
to use the learned techniques to produce creative work of the finest quality.
Emphasis will be given to fine darkroom printing techniques in order to produce
fine art prints on RC and fiber paper. Work will be matted and submitted for
exhibit.
Inspiration
We will start
by viewing and discussing the work of selected Masters of B&W photography
seeking for inspiration as we prepare to start shooting.
Shooting
Students will be expected to shoot
and develop one roll every two weeks, and produce a contact sheet, several
proofs and at least two 11x14 exhibition prints per roll. At the completion of the trimester, each
student should have shot at least five rolls and produced a minimum of 10
quality 11x14 prints on RC paper.
Themes
Students are encourage to select themes of their interest, in keeping with Lisette Model’s advice to never shoot anything you are not
passionate about. The only requirement
is that each roll
Grading
Each roll of film will count as 20%
of the grade. There will be four grades
for each roll >> Film Development/ contact sheet and two final
