Goal >> to
provide students with knowledge in image editing through advanced Photoshop
techniques as well as in depth critical image creation and evaluation
Themes and
activities to be covered:
o
Advanced digital capturing techniques:
Light observation, color compositions, three dimensional
considerations, themes and interpretations will be analized in depth as we view
an abundance of images created by the great masters of photography and current
professional photographers of distinction.
o
Professional Photoshop image editing
Tools such as layers and masks
will be introduced, and their wide applications in image editing considered.
Practical examples and applications of these advanced techniques will be
presented each class during the “Photoshop Tip of the Day” segment. Students
will be encouraged to apply these techniques to their own images as the teacher
provides individual assistance.
o Three collective class
critiques of work in progress (every two weeks)
This will allow students to keep pace and self evaluate their work, as
well as to learn to receive constructive criticism and suggestions regarding
their work.
o
Archival output on Piezzo printer with fine arts
paper
Images will be prepared by students and submitted for printing
according to industry standard specifications with regards to resolution, file
format, color correction, and general appearance.
o
Custom museum style matting / portfolio with 10 8x10
matted pieces
Students will be taught how to custom prepare mats for their
photographs according to museum standards and specifications. The final product
will be a collection/monograph consisting of 10 matted pieces to be displayed
gallery style.
o
Final critique and exhibit
Students will need:
Digital Camera with manual controls
11x14 portfolio box (details to be provided)
Blank CDs (as needed)
