MEET:  SERGEANT ADAM ROBBINS (read all the way to the bottom of the page!)

Here's the birthday greetings we sent to Sgt. Robbins on his 27th birthday, and here's the t-shirt we got for our room:

Here's more pictures from the guidon presentation to the school:

What is a guidon?  It is a military standard that companies carry to signify their unit designation and corps affiliation.  It is a great source of pride for the unit, and receiving one as a gift is one of the most meaningful and special recognitions one can receive.

The blue color and crossed rifles means "Army Infantry".  The #2 is his battalion, #3 is his regiment, A is his company, and #1 is his platoon.

We are very touched and honored to accept Adam's gift, but we hope he knows what a gift we consider HIM to be in OUR lives.  He gives us a hero to look up to, and a proud soldier to care for and pray for.  We are honored to know him.

We adopted Sgt. Robbins in 2003 after Barrett returned safely from his first tour in Iraq.  Sgt. Robbins is a member of the Stryker Combat Brigade from Ft. Lewis, Washington.  He is another Texas boy with ties here locally.  His parents live in Addison.  He graduated from St. Mark's in Dallas and then from Pepperdine University in California.

He enrolled in the Army upon graduation, and was stationed in Mosul for his first tour.

Along with letters and pictures, we sent Adam lots and lots of candy and goodies for him to share with his buddies.

While Sgt. Robbins was in Iraq the first time, we got to be good friends with his mom and dad, and they represented him in chapel at the end of the 2004 school year when he could not attend.  We presented them with a book on the history of the U.S. Army, and inside, each student had put his or her picture, and signed the book from "Adam's Army".  They gave Sgt. Robbins the book when he came home on summer leave.  Mrs. Fuchs got to visit with him while he was here.

He went back to Iraq, and returned home safely in the fall of 2004, but the students had yet to meet him.  He came to see his parents at Christmas, but we were already out of school for the holiday.  However, that didn't stop our PES kids!  Mrs. Fuchs arranged for Sgt. Robbins to come tour the school and leave a note for his supporters, but instead, we had a SURPRISE PARTY for him!  It was lots of fun and the sergeant was on television!  He signed autographs for us, and gave us our very own Stryker doll dressed in the same uniform he wears.  It is on display in the 4th grade science room.

Sgt. Robbins returned to Ft. Lewis, and there, he met and fell in love with Jennifer!  They got married in April, 2006.  Congratulations to the happy couple!  While Sgt. Robbins is gone, Jennifer is staying in Washington where she works for an insurance company.

Sergeant and Mrs. Adam Robbins!

Sgt. Robbins returned to Iraq in June of 2006 for his second tour of duty there, and was again stationed in Mosul as a Vehicle Commander.  We have "re-adopted" him, so he's back under the Parish prayer wings, and we will make sure he feels the love!  In December, his group moved from Mosul to Baghdad, where he is a part of the force trying to secure the city.

Here are some pictures of Casey, the Robbins's new boxer puppy.  She is keeping Jennifer company while the sergeant is in Mosul!

The first weekend in November, Sgt. Robbins came home to Addison for a SURPRISE  R & R visit with his parents, and brought his new bride along for all his Texas friends to meet!!

Here they are,                          and here they are with the lucky Mrs. Fuchs!

Sgt. Robbins received all the nice messages of support from the 3rd and 4th grade students and parents, and he took them back to Iraq when he left on November 5.  I told him many boxes of goodies will soon follow him there!

Here are is a picture of Sgt. Robbins' parents with Mrs. Leach at our Veterans' Day chapel on Nov. 10.

Here's some new pictures of Casey...she's especially proud of her new Dallas Cowboys sweater!

Adam asked us to send his wife a valentine and let her know he loves her.  Here's the heart she made of all the cards she got.  Our valentine is the big bright pink rectangle one on the right!
