All students enrolled in a mathematics course: for the
2008-2009 school year must complete a summer mathematics assignment which will
be due on the first day of class in August:
- The
summer mathematics assignment will count as a quiz grade. Late assignments will be assessed a
penalty of 15% per class day. Links
to the assignments are found below.
- During
the second week of class students will be expected to take a mastery test
that will consist of problems similar to those in the summer assignment. Any student who does not earn a grade of
at least 90% on the mastery test will be required to retest until a grade
of at least 90% is earned. This
will help identify gaps in prerequisite skills and provide remediation
without penalizing students who need more support in order to achieve
mastery.
- Extra
help sessions will be available for students who need assistance or have
questions about the summer assignment.
Students may attend for part of the session or for the entire time. The help sessions will be held in rooms
3034, 3035, or 3036 on the following dates from 1:00-4:00 PM:
Wednesday,
July 23 Thursday, July 31
Tuesday,
August 5 Thursday,
August 7
Monday,
August 11 Wednesday,
August 13
- Students
with questions who are not able to attend the sessions may call Mrs.
Antich at 972-849-7907 or Mr. Kondysar at 214-349-1994. We will be checking our messages
regularly and try to return calls as soon as possible.
Spread out your work
over the summer; do not wait until August to get started!
