Parish Singers, the 50-member Upper School Chorus of Parish Episcopal School performed for the Pat Summerall Humble Beginnings Luncheon in support of Austin Street Shelter. The performance was particularly meaningful for 4 members of Parish Singers. Four of Parish’s first Varsity Football Team sang for three of the NFL's greatest players; Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith. "At Parish there is a strong bridge of support between Athletics and the Arts", said Gary Gordon, Director of Parish Singers. He continued, "In many schools students have to choose between sports and the arts. At Parish we do everything possible to make access to both opportunities a reality for our students.”
In September Parish Singers was established with 18 students. Today there are over 50 members of the chorus. Parish Singers have the goal of becoming one of the top choirs in the country, competing and touring both nationally and internationally. It is fitting that they were chosen to perform for the "Humble Beginnings" luncheon. "We are extremely honored and moved to have this opportunity to represent The Parish Episcopal School, a community of excellence," said Mr. Gordon.
