Students direct several one acts May 8, 2007
Upper School students took the stage in April to perform a total of six one act plays. These student selected pieces cast 30 students total, plus seven tech volunteers, with 21 students performing at the ISAS Fine Arts Festival and 24 at Midway’s Fine Arts Night.
Four of the plays that were performed either at ISAS or Fine Arts Night were student directed. At the ISAS festival, junior Kat Herriman directed “Sure Thing.” The cast consisted of sophomore Michael DeLong, senior David James, junior Tay King, senior Bridget Lynch, junior Andrew Mozley and junior Kait Staffieri.
Parish students performed “Rapunzel Uncut,” under the direction of sophomore Jason Prochaska, at both events. Production cast members were freshmen Dylan Block, Erin Chaiken and Kyle Hughes; James, freshmen Laura Limon and Julia Pitch, Prochaska, freshman Michael Vanderslice and sophomore Kendra Wiese.
“Check Please: Take 2” was directed by senior Whitney Carpenter. Students who appeared on stage during her rendition were Block, Chaiken, James, Limon, Pitch, Prochaska, Staffieri, Vanderslice and Wiese.
“Drugs are Bad,” directed by sophomore Lauren Imhoff, had a significantly smaller cast, which was Limon, Prochaska and Vanderslice.
The other two plays, “Dinner with the MacGuffins” and “Check Please,” were directed by Upper School drama and speech teacher Tom Taylor.
“Dinner with the MacGuffins” was presented by an all-freshman cast of Emily Copeland, Julian Lee, Katherine Lopez, Faraz Noshahi, Will Romo, McClain Stone, Tyler Sullivan and Kim Villa.
“Check Please” was also performed at Fine Arts Night by freshmen Susan Barry, Jackson Hoover, Mary Kate Johnson, Kelsey Kehlbeck, Ashley Miars, Judy Morris, Wendy Peraza and Kathryn Swihart.
Freshman Rebecca Davis, sophomore Conner Golden, freshman Rachel Hahn, junior Kathleen Melton and Prochaska also lent their technical expertise and talents to help make the evening a success.
Please congratulate these students on their efforts and a job well done!
