ISAS Fine Arts Festival Comes to Parish April 16, 2007
The festival was scheduled to take place in New Orleans for independent school students from across the Southwest, but because of Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans’ schools were unable to host. As such, ESD, Greenhill, Hockaday, Parish and St. Mark’s joined together to hold a “local edition” of the fine arts festival to celebrate the work and talents of area students. Parish, in particular, served as the 2-D gallery and provided a venue for some of the performing arts presentations. The first ISAS Fine Arts Festival was held at Casady School in Oklahoma City in 1967. The event began as a small music festival and quickly grew to encompass all arts disciplines. The festival has garnered a national reputation as an event that showcases excellence in the performing and visual arts in independent schools. The ISAS Fine Arts Festival is the largest gathering of ISAS students on an annual basis as more that 2,250 students participate from 30 schools in seven different states.
