Parish Fine Arts Hosts Dallas Black Dance Theatre

The Dallas Black Dance Theatre performed for Parish 3rd through 12th graders on Friday, March 30, in an assembly sponsored by the Midway Fine Arts Committee. Their primary dance style is Modern Dance, but they showed the students examples of ballet, modern and jazz dance. The students were given the opportunity to volunteer, as members of the dance company lead them through a series of dance exercises across the gym floor.
The performance ended with a question and answer session where many of the students received answers to questions about the performed dance numbers, dance styles and the dance company.
Dallas Black Dance Theatre gives a youth enrichment dance camp each summer. This year’s dance camp takes place at the Opera’s Karayanis Rehearsal Center and runs June 4 through 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If interested, contact Jerry Hutton for more details.
