Shake, Rattle and Roll! March 2008 On Sunday March 9, Parish Singers and Bel Canto will share the stage for the annual Spring choir concert. Seniors members, many founding members of Parish Singers, will be honored at this concert.
The concert will be at 5:00pm in the Black Box Theatre. A formal first half will be followed by a celebration of the 1950’s with poodle skirts, blue jeans, solos, duets, trios and songs for the audience too! This concert is free but reservations are required. Please call 972.239.8057 x1307, or email finearts@parishepiscopal.org to reserve your seats.
Bel Canto takes off Fall 2007 Parish has begun a new ensemble of select singers to form the School’s premier singing group, Bel Canto.
Under the direction of Gary Gordon, Director of Upper School Music, about 30 students have taken on the primary responsibility of representing Parish at both internal school events and to the greater community.
“My hope is that this group will really become ambassadors for the school. We want to be able to perform when called upon from the school and for corporate events as well. We are looking for exceptional performing opportunities,” Gordon said.
He also emphasized that The Parish Singers is expected to return to 40 to 60 members next trimester. He said this group will primarily be made up of underclassmen and will focus more on the basics of what it means to be in a choir.
“The way our four-year program is now designed gives students several participation options,” Gordon said. “It is extraordinary that such a large number can participate and that we can capitalize on the talent we have here.”
