Girls Basketball


Girls Middle School Basketball, 2008-2009 Nov 6, 2008 Coach Nikcole Sumter enters her second year as Head Middle School Coach. As in the past 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are eligible to participate in Parish Athletics. Parish will participate in DPL competition only.
Middle School Team Placements Friday November 14, 4:00-5:30pm, Midway gym. All girls should be ready to start at 4:00pm Placement attire will be: T-shirt, “BASKETBALL” shorts, Basketball shoes
Placements will be based on: Hustle, ball handling, shooting, dribbling, and defense.
Teams will be posted Monday, November 17.
Practice times & Location To be determined after the placements for each team
Skills Night There will be an open skills session every Wednesday evening, 7:00-8:00pm. Coaches will be available to instruct skill sessions.
Open Gym The Midway gym will be open on Sundays, 2:00-4:00pm. Middle school students “ONLY” are invited to come and play or get additional instruction.

Lady Panther Basketball, 2008-2009 Oct 23, 2008 At this time, we want to introduce Coach Tiffany Griffin as the Associate Head Coach of the girls’ basketball program. As you are probably aware, but bears repeating, Coach Griffin came to Parish at the beginning of the year from Bishop Dunne where she was Head of the Physical Education Department and Head Girls Basketball Coach. She is a graduate of TCU where she played basketball and then played post-collegiate on the Spanish National Team. She is an outstanding addition to the Varsity Coaching Staff.

Parish caps milestone season Mar 3, 2008 The Lady Panthers reached their first TAPPS state girls basketball tournament to highlight Parish’s most successful season. Parish lost to Tomball Concordia during the semifinals in San Antonio on Feb. 29.
In addition to winning the District 2-5A title, Parish was ranked in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ state poll and the North Texas poll of The Dallas Morning News.
Senior Lucy Keith was named the district’s Most Valuable Player, sophomore Whitney Keith was the Defensive Player of the Year and Chesnie Brackens the Freshman of the Year. Parish’s Jason Samuels was the Coach of the Year.
Selected second-team all-district was Brooke Thoele. Honorable mention selections were Amanda Daum, Marielle LeMasters, Blaire Butler and Camie Robertson.
Girls basketball advances to TAPPS regional Feb 15, 2008 The Lady Panthers play Fort Worth Christian at 5:30 p.m. Friday at John Paul II in the TAPPS Class 5A state regional championship. Parish senior Lucy Keith scored 21 points in a bi-district playoff win over Arlington Grace Prep, 53-34, at Panther Gym last Friday. Whitney Keith added 12 points and Chesnie Brackens scored 10 points as well.
Parish’s stifling defense held Grace Prep to 10 points or less in every quarter. The Lady Panthers have won their last seven games and 13 of their last 14.
District champs start playoffs at home Feb 14, 2008 The Lady Panthers host a TAPPS state playoff game against Arlington Grace Prep at 7 p.m. Friday at Panther Gym. Parish (21-7) is coming off its second-consecutive District 2-5A championship. The Panthers are ranked No. 14 in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches statewide Large Private School poll. If Parish advances past Grace Prep, it will play the Fort Worth Christian-Tyler Grace winner on Feb. 22 at John Paul II.
