National Signing Day Parish Style  Feb 6, 2008

Parish seniors Lucy Keith, Cecilio Carter and Alex Henderson signed formal athletic scholarships Wednesday on the traditional first day  to sign a national letter-of-intent. Keith will play soccer at Texas. Henderson will play football and run track at Dordt (IA.) College and Carter will play football at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

“The next time you watch them play, you’ll have to pay to get in,” Parish athletic director Brad Moore said to an enthusiastic crowd of family and friends at a school ceremony. “But they always will be Panthers for life.”

Keith has set a high bar for girls athletics at Parish as a lifelong student. She’s been a standout in Dallas select club soccer and Parish volleyball and basketball player since her freshman year. She joins last year’s Leslie Briggs (Class ’07) as the second NCAA Division I soccer athlete from Parish.

Carter and Henderson were key members of Parish’s ground-breaking football season. In its second varsity season, Parish advanced to the TAPPS Class 5A regionals. Carter developed quickly as one of TAPPS’s top players at defensive end and his quickness has Air Force projecting him at linebacker. Henderson is a versatile receiver and defensive back who will be a TAPPS state track contender in sprints and middle distances.
