Parish golfers take 5th in state
April 24, 2009

golf_032409The Panthers took fifth place at the TAPPS class 4A state boys golf tournament at the Golf Club at Cinco Ranch in Katy, Tx. Parish’s first state-qualifying team had All-state individual finishes with sophomore Cody Miller taking sixth place and sophomore Cole Horowitz was 10th. Under coach Kim Self, Parish’s team also included sophomores Will Hall,  Alec Thoveson and J.J. Greco.

The Panthers had a strong second-day showing to post the second-best team score of the day. Parish was 10 strokes behind third place after the first-round on a course which had been soaked by recent rains. Miller and Horowitz both had playoffs to determine their individual finishes. Parish tied for the fourth-best team score, but the tiebreaker moved the Panthers to No. 5 in the standings.
